After spending six dynamic years in the property management sector, serving both as a portfolio manager and an onsite association manager, Richard took a significant step in his career by joining CMA in January 2010. His deep understanding of community dynamics was further enriched by his years of dedicated service on his own HOA Board of Directors, where he gained firsthand experience in governance and community engagement.
Originally hailing from various states—including Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and three cities in Texas—Richard finally made Georgia his home in 1998. His diverse background includes a successful tenure as a corporate trainer and a strategic IT/Operations liaison in the hotel industry. Over the years, he mastered the intricacies of launching new hotels, transitioning them between brands, and efficiently managing multiple locations. This experience translated seamlessly into his role in association management, allowing him to adapt quickly and effectively.
Armed with a degree in Information Technology and a minor in Accounting, Richard also honed his skills in competitive debating and public speaking, which proved invaluable when he developed CMA’s inaugural training program. After serving diligently as the Director of Training, he was elevated to the position of Vice President of Professional and Organizational Development in 2023. By January 2024, Richard advanced again to assume the role of Vice President of Operations at CMA, where he continues to drive success and innovation.
In addition to his professional qualifications, Richard is accredited by the Community Association Institute (CAI), holding the prestigious designations of Association Management Specialist (AMS) and Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM).
Outside of his professional life, Richard has a passion for discovering new places, soaking up the culture, and trying local foods. He loves to travel, hike scenic trails, and explore diverse culinary experiences with his partner and friends, making the most of his time away from work.
