After six years in the industry as both a portfolio and onsite association manager, Richard joined CMA in January 2010. He also served on his own HOA Board of Directors for several years.
Richard lived in KS, OK, LA, and three cities in TX before calling GA home in 1998. He was previously a hotel chain’s corporate trainer and IT support person. He was experienced in opening new hotels, transitioning them between brands, and operating multiple locations, so he found it easy to adapt to association management.
With a degree in Information Technology and a minor in Accounting, along with his competitive debating and public speaking experiences, Richard brought great skills to creating CMA’s first training program. After serving as Director of Training for several years and then Director, Professional and Organizational Development for several more, he was promoted to Vice President, Professional and Organizational Development in 2023. In January 2024, Richard became CMA’s Vice President, Operations.
Richard is accredited by the Community Association Institute (CAI) with the designations of AMS (Association Management Specialist) and PCAM (Professional Community Association Manager).
When not working, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and trying new restaurants with his partner and friends.
